Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you enter a name, a date of birth, or another term into one of the search boxes on this site, that term goes directly to the outside company that runs the search. The company processes it and returns a result. We do not keep or log what you typed.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message so that we can answer it. It stays with our team. We do not pass it to anyone outside our organization unless the law requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each page load sends our servers a small set of technical details about the visit:
- The IP address your device used
- The browser and version you are running
- The type of device and its operating system
- How long you stayed on each page and which pages you opened
- The referring site, if one sent you
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are used here. A cookie is a small file placed on your device that shows us which pages draw the most visits and where readers tend to stop. Analytics services help us gather that traffic data in aggregate. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site may not behave the same way if you do.
What We Do With This Data
- Running the site and keeping pages loading quickly
- Passing your search request to the partner service that handles it
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which ones need work
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may relate to your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. What it publishes is general guidance about where Dodge County warrant records are kept and how to check them through the Sheriff's Warrants Unit, the district court, and the court records tools that Minnesota provides. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is turned into a consumer report or a file about any third party.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Anything you type into one of them is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide how long they keep data and who else sees it, and we have no control over any of that. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
This site links to sheriff's office pages, court portals, legal aid organizations, state agencies, and outside search tools. A click on one of those links takes you away from this site, and the privacy policy of that destination then applies to your visit. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites in order to show targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not on ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may reach:
- Search partners that process a query you run here
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on these pages
- A court, law enforcement office, or other government body when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices to protect the data we hold. No system connected to the internet is immune to a breach, so we cannot promise that one will never happen, and we do not pretend otherwise.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, tell us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota law, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act in Minn. Stat. Chapter 13, governs how government offices in this state handle data about you. That chapter applies to public offices, not to a private site like this one. For the data this site holds, you can:
- Ask what we have on file about you
- Request that we correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
If your question is about a government record, including a court case or a sheriff's warrant file, the request belongs with the office that holds it. Those offices follow the state data practices rules described in Minn. Stat. § 13.03.
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date. Return here if you want to see how our practices have shifted.
